Day 7: Leg 1 is Done!

We arrived early into Pendleton and since the arrival party at Blue Mountain Community College is tomorrow morning we decided to get a bit of a head start on Leg 2 so I ran part of the leg toward Bend.

Total mileage today was 14.75. I took advantage of the lighter running day and got some rest. I have a couple of blisters that needed attention, one in particular on my right pinky toe is pretty inflamed. I was able to soak my feet today and get a good rest.

Highlight of the day was a dinner at Hamley’s Steakhouse in Pendleton. It’s an historic building that’s more than 100 years old and very much the Cowboy, Rodeo theme that is Pendleton. We were hosted by Blue Mountain Community College President, Dr. Mark Browning, his wife Kim, former board member Jane Hill who I’ve known for over 30 years, crew members Allan Niemi and Mark Thomas, Allan’s wife Dani was able to join, and of course my wife Paddy.  We celebrated the completion of the first leg of this amazing journey.

Looking forward to the celebration at BMCC in the morning and then running toward Central Oregon Community College in Bend.
