Day 37: Chemeketa Community College

Visited my 10th College out of 17 today. Chemeketa CC in Salem really rolled out the red carpet. President Jessica Howard and members of the staff joined me for a 1 mile run into campus. We were escorted down Lancaster Ave (a very busy road) by campus safety vehicles with lights and sirens, it was really fun.

As we ran into campus we were greeted by over 50 staff and community members who had made signs and were cheering. President Howard made introductory remarks and I was able to share the purpose of the run. KGW news aired a snippet of it on the 4:00 news so more people had a chance to learn about the event. Grateful for the warm reception.

We then headed out to continue running to Lincoln City. Most of the day was spent running on Hwy 22 and 18 which was not a lot of fun as they are busy roads.  The road shoulders were pretty wide so I felt pretty safe. Should arrive in Lincoln City by end of day tomorrow.  It’s hard to believe I just visited 4 CC’s in the last week but they are definitely getting closer together.
