A little bit of everything on today’s run. We started at the COCC Culinary Institute where a college friend, Cheryl Weedman came for the send off. Great to have Clackamas Community College student, Corban, join me for the first 16 miles of the run. Corban is a student from Estacada and his family came out to Bend to visit family and for him to run with me. We had a great conversation and solved most of the world’s problems today.
The majority of today’s run was on a bike path out of Bend that lead almost entirely to Sunriver. After two weeks of running on roads and watching for cars it felt great to run along a path and not worry about traffic. I’ve run two marathons in Sunriver and it’s one of my favorite places so I enjoyed being on the paths through the resort. Goody's Ice Cream in the Village feels like a must stop for me and I was looking forward to the break, when I heard “Tim Cook” from behind me on the path. My friend Brian Nava and his family are in Sunriver and he had been following my satellite tracker to see where I was at. Totally made my day.
Right about the time I got my marionberry waffle cone the sky opened up with one of the most dramatic thunderstorms I’ve ever seen. We ended up cutting the run short by about 5 miles today which is ok as my left achilles continues to give me some trouble. Back at it tomorrow as we head south toward LaPine.
