All good things must come to an end so today I started making my way from Astoria back to Portland. It was a beautiful day and I was joined by Ben Cannon, Executive Director of the Higher Education Coordinating Commission. Ben and I had great conversations as the miles ticked off. We could tell we had left the coast after we crested a mountain in Clatsop County and the temps got much warmer, we knocked out 28.5 miles today.
Today was my birthday and I celebrated with a piece of german chocolate cake during my lunch break. Then tonight we had dinner with Jarrod Hogue, President of Clatsop Community College and his wife Mary in Astoria. All in all a nice way to celebrate.
We said goodbye to our friends Lance and Melody Lile tonight and tomorrow will have our new crew members as we run towards Vernonia.
