Bit of a crazy day today as we started with the arrival party at the Blue Mountain Community College Equine Center. There were lots of staff and some students in attendance. Even the local news media was there filming. President Browning signed the map then a bunch of us ran or walked the short distance to campus for a group photo in front of the BMCC sign.
We also said goodbye to crew members Allan and Mark, and welcomed this week’s crew Mark Hopkins and Ed Dennis. Mark and Ed are college buddies from Western Oregon (State College when we attended). We were all Resident Assistants and then Ed and I were roommates off campus. So thankful to our friends for coming along and helping make this event a success.
The rest of the day was spent running and mostly walking as it got hot really fast. The Rieth road along the Umatilla was beautiful and hardly any vehicles. Then we got on the Echo-Lexington Hwy and it’s a lot busier. Temps were in the upper 80’s today and will be again tomorrow so we’re looking to start early.
Big news is that we hit 200 miles toward the end of today’s run!
Tim, you are a remarkable human being. And you know if you’re anywhere around Pendleton you should have a huckleberry shake, burger and fries from Hal’s Hamburgers. 😉 Keep going and fighting the good fight for students!
ReplyDeleteTim, over 200 miles!!! That is absolutely amazing! I look forward to seeing you on Sunday! 😊 Adam
