Day 41: Coastal Towns

Spent the day running from Tillamook up the coast on hwy 101. It’s a busy highway but the shoulders are pretty wide for most of it so other than the cars whizzing past it’s not too bad. What I enjoyed about it was the views of the ocean and getting to run through several small beach towns that normally I would drive through and not really see.

Early in the day I got to Garibaldi and it turns out that today was the Garibaldi Days Celebration, complete with parade. It seems like the whole town and more come out for this event. It was fun making my way through the crowd, seeing the floats and experiencing the celebration.

Toward lunchtime, my friend Cheryl Myers, who I spent the last year with in the American Leadership Forum, brought us all lunch. I knew she had planned to find me at some point along the route and it was a wonderful surprise to see her and have lunch. The remainder of the day I made my way north taking pictures of places that interested me. Looking forward to more of the same tomorrow.
