The day started off with a quick celebration at Klamath Community College with about 30 staff and a few students. Klamath CC serves about 2,000 students in Southern Oregon with strong programs in aviation as there is an air force base close by. It was a nice send off for College #4 on my list.
My run started off with a pleasant surprise. I was running through the forest outside of Keno, very few cars, just me and the trees. I look over and see a bicyclist passing me on the right and he shouts, "Tim Cook!" Turns out it was Sean Gulden, who I went to high school with. He knew about my run and that I was in the area but thought I had taken a different route. We chatted for a few minutes before I continued on--it totally made my day that in the middle of nowhere somebody knew me and took the time to talk.
It was a very hot day, ending in the mid-90s. My crew was fantastic, giving me cold towels for head and misting me every few miles. The best though were the popsicles that I got about every 5 miles. I started looking forward to getting to the van for a popsicle and the outdoor shower. I felt strong overall today and if it weren’t for the heat it would have been a fun running day. My total miles crossed over 600 today so about 40% of the run is complete.
