Day 13: Now That's a Hill!

Today may have been the most challenging so far, and one of my strongest days.  The first half of the run toward Prineville was through the Ochoco mountains and had a 13% grade at times as I climbed 2200 feet.  I mostly walked this section and got into a good rhythm and powered through the first 20 miles of the day.

I was looking forward to the descent but the hwy has very little shoulder and for safety I had to be careful and watch for speeding cars all day.  It was stressful and I still have about 15 more miles to do tomorrow on this hwy.

The crew has been fantastic, my legs are mostly holding up, and I’m having fun.  Tomorrow looks to be a hot one--actually the whole week looks hot--so my run of cooler days seems to be over for now.
