I’m writing today’s blog from the comfort of my own home, after I’ve taken a shower and eaten dinner at my house. After 47 days running through Oregon it feels great to be home even for a couple of nights before I finish this run next week. Paddy and I have been looking forward to this for some time. We have missed our dogs, Maisie and Murphy and were so excited to see them again today.
Today I ran from Banks to CC #14, Portland Community College, Sylvania. Since it’s only about 10 miles from our house it made sense to sleep here tonight. I had two runners with me for most of the day; Nancy Fisher, a friend from Western Oregon University, and Jarett Gilbert, the VP of Instruction at Columbia Gorge CC. We had a great time navigating the streets of Hillsboro and Beaverton before they had to take off about mile 20. Then I met up with a reporter, Maddie, from Oregonlive.com who is writing an article about the run and wanted to run a few miles with me. We had a great conversation for the last 5 miles as I made my way to PCC.
After making us some great grilled cheese in the Sprinter van, Paddy was able to drive it out to Johnson RV in Sandy so a few things could be fixed. It was a busy day and we’re looking forward to another busy one tomorrow as we have an event at PCC at 9am, followed by a run from PCC to Clackamas CC where we’ll have a 2nd event at 3:00pm. Then on Sunday we're on to Mt Hood CC before we finish at Columbia Gorge CC next Thursday. We’re close to the end and it feels great.
