Day 42: Coastal Towns Continued

Continued my run up Hwy 101 on the Oregon Coast today. It was challenging as I had to climb up and over Neah Kah Nie Mountain in the first 10 miles. I definitely enjoy running through the small coastal towns that normally I’m driving through at much faster speeds. Getting to see the flavor of these towns has been really nice.

Saw some epic views from the top of the mountain that had me stepping back a foot or two as the drop down to the ocean was significant. Running into Cannon Beach I noticed a number of people and cars stopped on the road. To my right were about 8 elk just grazing in someone’s yard. I was maybe 25 yards away and they didn’t seem to care. Also got a great view of Haystack Rock.

Will be at Tillamook Bay CC tomorrow for their event and then continue running to Astoria. The weather at the coast has been in the 60’s and it will be tough to leave toward Portland and much warmer temps.  There are now 10 days left on the run and it’s hard to believe we are nearing the end.

  1. What a beautiful run! I would love to join you for another day, but it does not look like it is going to work out schedule-wise. Nonetheless, this is so amazing and it so crazy you are getting nearer to the end of your epic journey all around Oregon! 🤯🤯🤯
