I hit 750 miles today, hard to believe we are halfway to the finish. Not exactly sure of the total miles yet but will clear 1,500 over about 54 days. Still feels a bit unreal yet when I look at my toes and feel the soreness of my feet I have no doubt I’ve run all those miles.
Today was a really nice run, I got 32.1 miles in on mostly solitary roads through forests. I saw very few cars and was able to run most of the day without having to worry about traffic. The last 8 miles were challenging as that was where most of the 2,000 foot elevation gain took place. It was another 90 degree day so a bit of a slog getting to the top of the mountain. I’m looking forward to running down the other side tomorrow.
I did take some pictures of the interesting history along the way. I knew about the Chinese laborers who built railroads in Oregon and liked learning about the stones they placed by hand. Did not know that so many had died in a rock avalanche. Also interesting to learn about the town of West Fork. From what I could see there is nothing left at all from what was once a bustling place.
You rock!! When you reach the coast tomorrow, it will be cooler, but we are having heavy winds the next couple of days. (Gusts up to 45 mph on Monday). We will be running into the head wind most of the way to SWOCC. Looking forward to running with you!! Susan
