Really great run today, even though it was sandwiched between 2 big elevation climbs. Started and finished the day with serious climbs that totaled more than 3,000 feet of elevation gain. Both were also on gravel and pretty rugged dirt trails. The weather was about 10 degrees cooler than what I’ve had the last several days and I was running on roads that had few cars so I was able to get into a rhythm and get quite a bit done before lunch.
Saw some cool things today. Nearly ran over a rattlesnake for the third time on this adventure. This time I actually heard him rattling before I saw him. Ran through an old covered bridge and because of the high elevation I had some great scenic views.
Should hit the halfway mark tomorrow which is pretty amazing to think about. Still have a long way to the finish but I’m feeling good and enjoying this time.
What beautiful country! You want to be cool? Go West, young man! 😂👊
