Day 17: Sometimes You Have to Get Dirty, and a Little Lost

Started today back at Goody’s in Sunriver Village, unfortunately it was too early and they weren’t open for ice cream. Dr. Dawn Hendricks, Early Childhood Ed faculty at Clackamas was in Sunriver with her family and came out to run a few miles at the start. We got a bit lost on the Sunriver paths but finally found our way and she came along for about 3.5 miles before heading back. Big thanks to Dawn for making the effort.

Enjoyed running to and through LaPine in the morning, that town has grown since I was here a decade or so ago. Unfortunately it got a little interesting heading out of LaPine. My route had me heading out on a gravel road that ultimately ended in a dead end. After some conferring with my crew we drove back to LaPIne and started approximately where I had diverged onto a different path. This one didn’t dead end but it ended up being about 10 miles of the dirtiest, dustiest roads that I’ve traveled so far. By the end of today I was filthy.

My left achilles is still pretty sore so I walked the majority of miles today to give it a break. I’m icing it and hopefully it will bounce back soon.
