Day 33: Lane Community College

Another great day of running! Started off well as new crew members Colm and Carrie were ready to help. Thrilled to have Wade Hathhorn, Clackamas Community College Board member join me for over 5 miles. He and his wife Sherry were on their way to Roseburg and Crater Lake and he made sure to connect so he could get in some miles with me, which was great way to start the day.

Today’s goal was to get to Lane Community College by 4:00 as they were having their official event then.  I was able to get there by lunchtime, do a couple of interviews and then head off toward Albany. It got hotter than I anticipated--mid 90’s--so I didn’t get a lot of miles in the afternoon before I headed back for the event.

Lane's women’s soccer team and President Stephanie Bulger met me at the entrance to LCC and we ran part of the cross-country course before ending on the track. It was quite warm so we all kept our comments brief, but I was quite impressed by Amelia, the Student Government President, as she articulated why basic needs support is so important. Cooling off tonight and hoping for lower temps as I make my way to Linn-Benton CC over the weekend.

  1. Tim, you are slacking! You barely made a marathon in mid-90's heat today! 😂👊 The epic journey continues! 😊👊
